Ramadhan Day 3
Ok, now my homesickness is starting to kick in. When I was back at home I would experience these:
1. Get stuck in traffic on the way home from school… nearing maghrib
2. People would stick their hands full of kolak or tea into the car window…

Ramadhan Day 1

What a coincidence, that on the 1st night of Ramadhan I had a night class from 7:20 pm to 10 pm (while maghrib was around 7:38 pm). So, I had to break my fast during class. With a bottle of water and some sweet Skittles® from the vending machine, Alhamdli’Allah my thirst and hunger was satisfied.

Ramadhan Day 1

Doa Membawa Berkah Shoundtrack
Singer & Actress: Tamara Blezinsky
This song reminds me of my senior highschool days in Indo… she plays on a new Ramadhan soap opera now called Hikmah. The 2nd one has been running (or even finished?) and I have not even had a chance to watch yet
1. “Sahur Sahur” with Shahnaz Haque as presenter
2. “Sahur Kita” with Eko & Ulva
3. “Pas Saur” with Plat AB - Lucu tenan mereka tuh!
1. “Doa Membawa Berkah” starring Tamara Blezinsky
2. …
3. …
Please, help me remember them…

The flight attendants have already started to speak Spanish!
Of course, I was first greeted with ’su pasaporte por favor!’ When I collected my two luggages at the baggage claim, I noticed the suitcase sign said recogida de equipaje! I searched for an exit from the airport but I could read nothing but salida!
So there I was picked up by my two friends as promised and someone from the office. We went directly to the flat that my friend suggested, but it turned out to be more expensive than I thought. Luckily, out of the blue, the apartment that my friend suggested even earlier, changed their mind and would let me stay there even though only for 3 months. At first they prefered one who would have a longer lease (1 year contract, more profitable than a 3 month one) to me, who was actually there first! The other girl was not even sure she will come this month. So… here I am staying with one of my friends for one night untill that landlord can make up his mind to give the cheaper flat to me or to the unconfirmed 1 year future inhabitant.
What shall I do?

Finally, the month of Ramadhan has come to an end. I have survived my first Ramadhan away from my family, friends, and suasana Jogja… (Lagu Katon Bagaskara).

Ramadhan Day 2
Finally, I made my 3rd and my 4th dish, in Stillwater OK.
Fried Rice and Beef+chicken Stew (Rendang).
Biar mantap. hehe
Here are a few other dishes on the menu. Please be the judge of it. Guess which one’s homemade, cooked by their mom, and purchased 30 minutes before dinner started. Be our guest! Sad to say though, that the only comment I got that night was about how pretty my tomato decoration was.
Well, what about my cooking?? ;(

Shall we start eating? Wait till the sun sets
To break our fast, we, muslim students, went to the mosque to have some dates and milk and perform the maghrib prayers before proceeding with the dinner. It was a neat experience, since at home in Yogya we would have kolak beverage instead which is made from sliced bananas and diced casava, cooked in coconut milk with brown sugar. Mmmm.

Alhamdulillah…
Mmmm… akhirnya makan dawet (one of my favorite traditional beverages) dan bakwan!
